Aluminium Treatment Chemicals

ALUGOLD chromating chemical is designed to treat aluminium, and its alloys

ALUGOLD gives yellow chromate coating, giving low coating weight and higher conductivity; the corrosion resistance is very good, and provides a good adhesion base for paint film, whether it is powder coating or liquid painting.

ALUGOLD is used as a 3% solution;

Functioning at Room Temperature (25oC)

Dip duration: 3 to 5 minutes.

 

A single shot cleaner to clean and surface preparation for aluminum. Can also be brushed.  Good for cleaning large areas like bus body, control panels etc.,

ALUCOAT NC

(Chrome-free ZINC-ZIRCONIUM phosphating for aluminium surfaces)

 

Aluminium is normally given a `chrome finish` before it is painted or powder coated. Even though the process of chromating is a proven one, it is generally preferred to have a chrome free treatment,  to reduce the severe pollution hazards caused by chrome. 

 

 

ALUCOAT NC is a chrome-free treatment for ALUMINIUM. It gives zinc-zirconium phosphate coating

• As base on Aluminium surfaces for subsequent liquid paint or powder coatings,
• As base for subsequent drawing of aluminium components.

 

 

A.    As base for subsequent painting/powder coating

 

 Is made up as a 5% solution;

 Functioning at Room Temperature (25^oC)

  Dip duration: 5 to 10 minutes.

  At Total Acid Value of between 20 and 24

  Build up of coating: 2 to 4 g/m².

 

 

B. For purposes of drawing aluminium, the parameters are as follows.

 

 Is made up as a 7 to 10% solution;

 Functioning in the Optimum Temperature range of 50 to 55^oC.

 Dip duration: 5 to 10 minutes.

 At Total Acid Value of between 35 and  50

   Build up of coating: 5 to 7.5 g/m2.

 

Aluclean BC

( Versatile Acidic Cleaner for Aluminum Beverage Cans )

         

Aluclean BC  is  specially formulated acidic cleaner to clean Aluminum Beverage cans.  More importantly it is chromium free.  It is used with the addition of Aluclean FL  and the combination is well formed to clean aluminium cans in conventional power spray processing equipment. 

 

ALUCLEAN BC  cleaner effectively removes drawing lubricants and compounds and maintains the original brightness on the surface of the cans.

 

Aluclean BC  process is sludgeless.

 

The  Equipment used for the process like, the process tank, housing, pumps and piping for use with the cleaning solution should be constructed of 316L stainless steel.  Spray nozzles should be fabricated from 316 stainless steel.

 

 

Precleaning:

 

Before application of Aluclean BC, it is recommended  to prewash the cans with a heated (40° to 60° Celcius) water to remove as much of the drawing lubricant and the coolant as possible from the cans.. 

 

 

Bath Preparation:

 

1.    Fill the tank to the operating level with fresh cool water.

2.   For  every 100 litres of operating tank volume, add one litre of Aluclean BC.

3.    Add  35 ml of Aluclean FL .  To avoid excessive foaming, make sure that the cleaning bath temperature is above 50 deg C before attempting to spray the solution.

 

Duration:         25 to 60 seconds.                   Temperature:  40° to 70° Celsius.

After cleaning with Aluclean BC the cans should be thoroughly rinsed with clean running water.  If required, the cans may then be processed further for any conversion coating.

 

Waste Disposal: Applicable regulations covering disposal and discharge of chemicals should be consulted and followed.

 

Guardclean- AL

( Aluminum Etchant)

Etching is a process for revealing the structure of the material. The common etching techniques include:

• Chemical, Electrolytic, Thermal, Plasma, Molten salt, Magnetic

The two most common techniques are chemical and electrochemical etching. Chemical etching is typically a combination of either an acid or base with an oxidizing or reducing agent in a solute. Guardclean AL is one such product which does chemical etching.

 

Guardclean-AL  is a specially compounded formulation for use on most of aluminum alloys. When used as recommended, it will produce smoothly etched surfaces, free from pits or other evidence of irregular etching actions.It is based on acids and works at room temperature.

 

Guardclean-AL  etches the surface in seconds and hence care should be taken to remove the pieces on time. 

 

Usage Instructions: The tanks to hold on the etchant should either be made of ms and lined with FRP or of a good quality plastic.  Fill the tank half with water.  Then add Guardclean AL to the tank at 1/10^th of the working volume.  {If the working volume of the tank is 100 litres then add 10 litres of Guardclean AL}.  Mix the bath.  Add water to make it to the working volume.  Then stir well to make the bath homogenous.

 

All the parts that are to me etched must be chemically cleaned to insure the best results out of the etchant.  Normally the etching will be done within 30 seconds.  It is for the user department to arrive at the exact time required to etch their components.  Immediately after etching the parts should be rinsed in water thoroughly.

 

Disposal:  Use and dispose of product, container, residue etc in accordance with all local laws and regulations.
